Outboard Turning Attachment
The Outboard Turning Attachment is used for turning large work off the end of the lathe, and also for supporting deep hollowing systems.
A 1.5″ solid steel bar stands upright on the floor and has a socket at the top to hold the toolrest (purchased separately). An articulated arm positions and holds the upright in place. Capacity to turn a table top up to 60”.
The Outboard Turning Attachment is compatible with the Tilt-Away, as seen in the pictures. We removed the tailstock from the Tilt-Away for clarity, but in most cases, it can be left on.
Buy it with your lathe, or retrofit later. It bolts onto the leg assembly with four bolts using existing holes. When ordering an Outboard Turning Attachment for an existing lathe, we will need to know the spindle height of your lathe in order to cut the upright the correct height – see image below.
