The remarkable patented Tilt Away tailstock attachment by Robust. It's as easy as 1,2,3. Bowl turners struggle with tailstocks. While needed for so many operations, and sometimes used to ensure safety, they are often in the way. The normal solution: take it off. That's the easy part. Getting a heavy tailstock back on your lathe safely, quickly and easily can be a chore. That's why we invented and patented the Tilt Away tailstock attachment. The Tilt Away works with all Robust bed extensions and outboard turning attachments. Scroll down for more details. |

| Step 1: Slide your tailstock back on the Tilt Away and lock it down. You can also spindle turn using the Tilt Away to support your tailstock. | ![]() |
Step 2: Release the Tilt Away locking lever and tilt the tailstock out of the way. It's just that easy, and you're in control. As the tailstock tilts out of the way, a second set of ways come up an align with the main lathe bed ways allowing you extra room to set up your hollowing rig, support the sliding headstock or what have you. |

Step 3: Now the tailstock is COMPLETELY out of the way. Don't be fooled by swing-style attachments that merely move the tailstock to the side and still obstruct full access to the work. To put your tailstock back in position, simply reverse the procedure. You're in control the entire time. For those that occassionally turn from the back of the lathe, the Tilt Away is ambidextrous and can be used to place the tailstock on the front side of the lathe as well. |
