Robust Dealer Profiles

Your Robust lathe will be made the way you want it.  With three different lathes and lots of options, talking with a woodturner that knows lathes ensures you’ll get the right lathe for you.  That’s why Robust lathes aren’t sold in catalogs.  They’re sold by woodturners.  Woodturners like Robust President Brent English who designs and builds the lathes.

Or woodturning professionals like those listed here who bought the Robust lathe you see them using, use they lathe for their work and teach on it as well.

Your Robust will last a long time.  Talk to someone who uses one now.

David Ellsworth: "It is a pleasure to represent a company that builds custom machines that are the finest quality, best design and most versatile wood lathes made today."

David has purchased five Robust lathes. Four are in his studio/classroom in Quakertown, PA (two American Beauties, one Sweet 16 and one Liberty). The fifth is a Sweet 16 at his family summer home in the mountains of Colorado.

Trent Bosch: "I have a lot of lathes in my shop and my Robust American Beauty is my favorite, not because I make anything different on it than I would on any of the other lathes, but because of how enjoyable it is to use.  The design is so well thought out it just makes it more fun to turn with and at this stage in my woodturning that is really important to me.  I am proud to be a Robust distributor because I really believe in the product."

Trent is a professional wood artisan and respected teacher from Fort Collins, Colorado. Along with three day classes taught at his studio, Trent also teaches a number of craft schools. He is a highly sought after demonstrator at symposiums and woodturning club events. Trent has three Robust lathes in his studio: an American Beauty, Liberty and special extra short Sweet 16.

Bill Grumbine: "People often write me to ask me since I have turned on just about every lathe that is out there, why did I buy a Robust?  My response has always been that I bought a Robust because I have turned on just about every lathe that is out there.  Becoming a dealer was the next step.  I can now help people realize their dreams of having the best lathe on the market, which makes the experience of turning all that much more fun."

Bill is a entertaining and knowledgeable teacher. He does one-on-one instruction in his studio and is a frequent demonstrator at symposiums and club events. His DVD's are also very popular.

JoHannes Michelsen: It has always been my great desire to have and operate with the best tools available for the job at hand, this is why I found it necessary to design and produce my own line of turning tools, HannesTool. It is for this same reason that I was very happy to find my way to the door of Brent English and his fine products and the Robust Lathes.

Robust Lathes are without a doubt the finest available anywhere; they have all the “right” details, features and functionality to take my turning to the next level. Made in America is of course an added benefit since we know that not just features but real quality are part of the bargain as is down home support for the product.

I could now launch into a long dissertation about why this lathe but I’ll just say this: "Here at the Johannes Michelsen School of Woodturning and at HannesTool, In Robust We Trust."

JoHannes is a full time professional woodturner and has been producing wood turned art for over 30 years. JoHannes wears many hats - and is best known for his turned wood hats and the gouges, tool handles and toolrests he uses to make them. He also runs a woodturning school where many beginning and master turners come to learn his turning techniques and catch free tool grind.

Sam Blasco: Samantics Squared is a small artisan shop and art gallery in beautiful, historic Smithville, Texas, just east of Austin, where the Robust lathe (an early long-bed version of our Liberty) is on permanent, and prominent, display.  Sam Blasco, the shop's owner, primarily designs and builds studio furniture, where he uses the lathe for parts needed in the furniture he builds, but he also dabbles in spinning objects just for the sake of making something that stands on its own, functional or not. In this picture you can see one of his sink bowls, which links both worlds. It is a stand alone object, but it is also integral to the final piece of furniture, in this case a vanity. Sam also teaches woodworking and lathe work and can be reached here:

Dale Rouleau is a professional woodturner (his turning website can be found here) from Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. Dale, along with the folks from Bow River Specialty Woods, Courtenay, B.C. recently opened a retail store called: "Wood to Works" that supports turners and carvers. Here's what Dale had to say after purchasing a Robust American Beauty:

In 26 years of professional woodturning I have turned on a wide variety of lathes.
With each one of those lathes I had a " I wish it had list". The Robust American Beauty doesn"t have a "wish it had list". It has everything I could want in a lathe.

I wish I had got this machine years ago.

A list of small things that where designed into the machine makes set-up and use a breeze. Build quality is second to none. Brent thought of everything when designing this lathe. We are proud to be a Canadian distributor of Robust lathes.
